2D Class Week 09 Film - Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome

1. Who was the director of the film? What other movies has this director produced?

George Miller and George Ogilvie
George Miller has also directed all other Mad Max films, Happy Feet, and the Nightmare at 20,000 Feet segment of the Twilight Zone movie.

George Ogilvie has also directed Short Changed, The Place at the Coast, and The Crossing.

2 Artistically, what did you like about this film?

I liked the children's interpretation of the Walker figure and the nuclear apocalypse and how they preserved that knowledge.

3. Who runs Bartertown?

Aunty may be the face of Bartertown and creates the rules, but Master controls it behind the scenes. Bartertown cannot exist the way it does without Master's engineering knowledge on methane harvesting.

2D Class Week 08 Film - Blade Runner

     Ridley Scott; Alien, Legend (1985), Thelma & Louise, Prometheus, The Martian


2. Artistically, what did you like about this film?

     I enjoyed the plausible depiction of a futuristic city. The city was not overblown with technological advancements, pollution or crime.


3. Was Deckard a replicant?

     Yes. Partway through the film, Deckard dreams about a unicorn and at the end of the film he spots an origami unicorn made by an associate police officer outside his apartment. This suggests the thought of the unicorn running was an implanted memory that Tyrell was experimenting with. That said, Deckard seems less durable and less coordinated than the replicants he was hunting for.
